Christine’s love for broad bands of color, horizon lines, and quiet landscapes began on the small family farm near Springfield, OH where she grew up. After graduating in fine arts from The Ohio State University in 1970, Ms. Rooney worked as a landscape artist for an architectural firm in Palo Alto, CA. While in California, she also studied art at San Jose State University and Foothill College. In 1973, she and her husband, Michael, moved back to the East Coast. She resumed graduate studies at West Chester State University in Pennsylvania and later at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, VA, and began working as a freelance artist. She has won numerous awards and has shown in solo and group invitational gallery shows. Christine teaches classes and workshops in drawing, pastel, and encaustics and works in silverpoint, graphite, encaustics, pastels and oils. Her studio is in Lynchburg, Virginia near the Blue Ridge Mountains. You can see her works above The Art Box at the corner of 12th and Clay Streets. www.christinerooneyartist.com
