In this 3-Day acrylic painting workshop you will analyze the role of color and shape in the depiction of light. Working from still life, we will begin by making small grayscale studies and then progress to a full color life size painting of the subject. This class will highlight the importance of maintaining a value structure and the necessity of using specific color language to match colors we observe. Objective looking and accurate drawing will be addressed throughout the process. Basic studio logistics—properties of acrylic paint, palette setup, and color mixing—will be covered. Mornings will include slide lectures, critiques, and demos followed by class painting time with individual feedback from the instructor.
