This short but intense workshop is like taking the plunge into a new adventure!
Even if you have done a little drawing or painting this opportunity to focus on creative process is an essential aspect of art practice. I will quickly assess the level of art experience to suggest development for each student; everyone will be on their own track but I will suggest how use your time and get started:
Day 1 ~ Drawing, and more drawing. Different subjects, different mediums, different criteria. Students will work from observation, memory, photos or drawings of famous artists. You will work with pencil, charcoal, ink pen, and simple color. As the day goes on we will do group discussion and brief critique and then make a clearly stated objective and the access to materials for each individual student .
Some of the possible areas of work might be: Perspective Drawing, Beginning to paint in Acrylic or Oils, Color theory and wheel, Developing the use of a sketchbook, Drawing with color outside, Transition towards abstraction
Day 2 through 4 ~ Each student will work on the project ideas developed on Day 1 and
I will work with you. Through discussion and working drawings you will generate work that will help you to build confidence and proficiency.
Each day, we will take time for class critique and discussion as this is a critical aspect of working as a studio artist.
On day 1 we will discuss your work and the direction you might follow for the next 3 days.
