Still life is Darren’s absolute favorite way of teaching composition and color. It often involves very simple objects arranged in a way that creates incredible depth and color variety; usually more than one would ever find in a figure painting or portrait. Students will explore ways of creating depth in paintings, creating harmonious color arrangements, and the use of edges to create a beautiful painting.
Class will begin by creating a few arrangements of the objects brought in class to experiment with different ways of composing a painting to create the most depth and variety on a two- dimensional surface. Materials list and further information will be sent upon registration.
