SKETCHING WITH PENCIL

5-Week Class
Dates: June 10, 17, 24 | July 1, 8
Times: Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tuition: $275 Members/$300 Non-Members
Location: Echols Studio

Starting with our most familiar tool, the graphite pencil, we will experiment with dry and wet blending techniques and classic shaped point mark making strategies. While doing so we will get a taste of “Plein-Air” sketching tradition and also explore using pencil to create travel, urban, and journal sketches in this 5 week Tuesday class. Meeting at Beverly Street Studio School, we will sketch in the classroom studio and around Staunton (weather permitting). Quick pencil studies will be our starting point and we’ll also be trying several other pencil sketching strategies as well as both classic and very contemporary pencil techniques. Suitable for beginner to advanced students who have some experience in drawing (or painting).
