Nan has taught courses in drawing, painting and art history at Bridgewater College since 1996, and has been chair of the art department since 1997. She has been an artist all her life, but also is fascinated by history. Her bachelor’s degree in history from the College of Charleston was put to good use in her freelance business designing and making Renaissance costumes. Nan earned her MFA at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, where she was a lecturer in the university’s art department from 1991-1996.
