Tuesday, April 17 – Check-in from 3:00-5:00 pm at Beverley Street Studio School (BSSS) at 217 W. Beverley St, Downtown Staunton. Receive your Garden Club Tour location assignment and complete packet of information that you will need for the week. First evening lecture to kick-off the week by Elizabeth Geiger in the BSSS Gallery at 22 W. Beverley St (just two blocks from the School) from 7-8 pm. Lecture will be free and open-to-the-public.
Wednesday, April 18 – Paint on the internationally renowned Polyface Farm! The farm features animals, barns/sheds, and the rolling landscape of Augusta County. There is a painting around every turn on the twenty-minute drive to the farm in Swoope where you also have the choice to paint at MeadowCroft Inn and on a the private land of Victoria Godfrey. All three locations will be open to painters from dawn to dusk. Pre ordered boxed lunch will be dropped off at MeadowCroft Inn at 12:00pm. End with an evening farm dinner at Polyface with BSSS Board of Directors, and key volunteers from 5:30-7:00pm.
Thursday, April 19 – Choose your location! Paint at the recently renovated and newly opened Blackburn Inn, OR if looking for something more private, choose between two picturesque privately owned locations: Cobble Hill Farm or Gaie Lea Farm, both just five minutes from downtown. Meals not provided. Two professional afternoon artist demonstration at the Blackburn Inn from 2-4:15 pm featuring Beth Bathe and Maria Reardon. Second evening lecture by Bruno Baran at the BSSS Gallery at 22 W. Beverley St, Downtown Staunton from 7-8 pm.
Friday, April 20 – Paint Staunton Quick Draw Art Competition and Fresh Paint Show and Sale at Sunspots Pavilion. Open to the public; free for QCPA Festival professional artist. Juror Fred Nichols to choose first and second prize in three categories: Professional, Amateur, and 16 and Under. Draw from 9:30-12:30. Break for lunch and return at 1:30 for award announcements and pop-up show and sale from 2-3 pm.
Saturday, April 21 – Paint on the locations of the Staunton/Augusta Garden Club Tour in Middlebrook. Location assignments given upon check-in at the beginning of the week. Those who do not want to participate can request complimentary entrance tickets to the Frontier Culture Museum from BSSS. Festival culminates in an evening Gallery show and sale. Preview party is from 5:30-6:00 pm, followed by Fresh Paint Show and Sale from 6:00-8:30 pm.
Sunday, April 22 – Fresh Paint Show and sale continues from 10 am-12 pm, with artists to pick up their work between 12-1:30pm Work left after this time, without arrangement to pick up at a later date, will be considered a donation to the School. One-day Workshop by event juror, Nancy Tankersley from 9:30-4:00; pre registration required. A special invitation from the Valley Conservation Counsel has been extended to any QCPA Professional artist to paint the Kites and Critters event; an event that is part of Earth Day on a local farm.
