On a very basic level, your ability to identify objects or people … especially from a distance … is dependent on the pattern of light falling on the person and the shadows that are cast. That perception is sometimes referred to as the “yearbook identity,” meaning that even when you see an out-of-focus photograph of someone in a high school yearbook, you recognize them because of the pattern of light and shadow. We’re excited that James, who is already a popular instructor at BSSS, will show you how to capture the identifying pattern of light and shadow on a variety of subjects using graphite, charcoal, or ink drawing materials. A materials list will be provided after registration. www.jamesdeanerickson.com
