A survey of the major color strategies and solutions in painting.
We will study: History of color in painting, materials of color, understanding color and color mixing and basic exercises to improve color usage (color and tonality, Earth palette color, Full color interaction, Impressionism and modern color. Exercises are tailored for oil paint but are applicable for all color media.Lecture, discussion and demonstration videos will be presented by the instructor.
Learning goal: an improved understanding of the use of color and color application in art.
Open to all levels of experience, and oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel.
We will work from master copies, photos or still lives of subjects.
