Dear students, members, donors, and friends of BSSS,
We have, like many other arts organizations, made a number of difficult decisions related to the COVID-19 challenges, which are summarized below.
As a small non-profit arts organization, we are certain that our work contributes to the vibrant community of which we are a part. In that spirit, we hope these actions will likewise contribute to our community’s collective response to these new challenges.
- Queen City Plein Air Festival, scheduled for April 14-19, 2020, was not held. We hope to reschedule it at some point in the future.
- Classes and workshops, cancelled for months, are returning in new and different ways.
- The BSSS Gallery has continued to offer beautiful shows. It is operating on a limited schedule, Thursdays through Sundays. Please call ahead if you plan to visit the Gallery to ensure someone is there to welcome you.
- The BSSS Office is operating on very limited hours. Joelle Aaslestad is working Tuesday mornings and Thursday mornings to maintain essential operations.
We will continue to monitor advice from both the CDC and the Virginia Department of Health, as well as local and statewide government agencies to inform our decisions moving forward.
The School, like many other arts organizations, faces new challenges. In the almost 28 years we have offered the community outstanding art education, we have never had to cancel an entire academic term. If you are in the position to contribute to the general operation of the School with a tax deductible donation during this time, it would be both put to great use and immensely appreciated. Thank you all for your continued support of the Beverley Street Studio School. We appreciate each and every one of you. Stay safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors and Office Staff
